Its been awhile since I've broken out a piece of one of our shows for an excerpt but after recording this weeks episode (Episode 29 - In the Haven) I knew our GDC discussion deserved a standalone treatment.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco brought us some interesting insights into the minds of gamers. Not only are players not finishing their games but when asked about their favorite games they cant recall the plot. The guys sit down and ask why that might be as well as ask whether games are too long and if morality choices in games are right way to engage players.
Why do only 50% of players finish their games? Are games too long? Why aren't players able to recall the plot of their favorite game? Are morality systems really the best way to engage players?
